Have Your Say! Draft LTCCP

Beach land for sale

The City Council is seeking proposals for the development of part of its former works yard at Owles Terrace in New Brighton. The area to be sold (see map) covers about 2.6ha of the 7.95ha Council-owned site and is zoned Living 1.

When a suitable purchaser has been found, the Council anticipates that it will develop the surrounding area as a riverside park in parallel with the private development. This will include a reserve and improved facilities for people who regularly use the part of the Avon River that runs alongside the site. A sum of $95,000 has been set aside for the construction of pontoons for river users and work will start on this in the next few months.

The local community will be consulted about the development of the reserve.

  • Potential developers interested in this property should contact Dave Sutton at Simes Real Estate on 377 1460 or 0274 330 243. For all other inquiries please contact Christchurch City Council property consultant Felix Dawson on 941 8477.
