Register now for Park-Pier

Those registering for this year’s Park to Pier family bike ride go into a draw to win a weekend of leisure. This year’s event is on 30 October and the spot prize will be drawn at the end of the ride at New Brighton Pier.

There are several ways to register for either the full 12km route from Hagley Park or for the new 5km half route which has been designed to encourage families with younger riders and the not-so-fit to take part.

  • You can fill out the form at left or in the brochure available at Council libraries and service centres. Either put it in the drop box at these locations or freepost it by 24 October.
  • For large groups, the easiest option is to register online by 26 October at www.ccc.govt.nz/recreation/cycling/activitiesevents/parktopier.asp
  • You can call 941 8999 by 26 October to register
  • If you make up your mind late, you can also register on the day but to do so arrive early.

This year’s major spot prize aims to give a lucky Christchurch family no excuse for not getting on their bikes and making time for leisure.

Various Council units, gardeners from City Care, the staff at Rydges Hotel Christchurch and the Ultimate Carwash Cafe combine to give the winners a weekend off they’ll remember for a long time, with all chores and pets looked after and the garden given a makeover.

All this, while the winners stay over at Rydges. The winner must be a Christchurch resident.

  • Riders doing the full route should be at the Armagh/Rolleston bridge at Hagley Park ready for a 9.30am start. For the half route, riders should be at Porritt Park ready for a 10am start. For more information, including a route map, look online at www.ccc.govt.nz
