Comment sought on cemetery plan
The Council has prepared a draft conservation plan for Addington Cemetery, which will guide decisions on its ongoing restoration and maintenance. The plan takes into account the cemetery’s historical importance as Christchurch’s first public cemetery, drawing on best practice in cemetery conservation work. Notable Christchurch people buried at the cemetery include Kate Sheppard, Tommy Taylor and members of the Deans family.
- A copy of the draft plan is now available for public comment, and can be obtained from Beckenham Service Centre. Comments can also be made on the Council’s ‘Have Your Say’ website www.ccc.govt.nz/HaveYourSay/
