Recycle your old phone books


With new telephone books, both white and yellow pages, due to be delivered this month, it’s time to start thinking about recycling your old books.

Phone books can be recycled through any of the following until Friday 20 August 2004:

1. Kerbside recycling Households in Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakariri with kerbside recycling collections:

  • Secure books in plastic shopping bags and put out as usual for collection in your recycling crate.
  • Up to four books per household will be accepted at the kerbside.

2. For larger volumes or areas not serviced by kerbside recycling, books can be dropped off at no charge at a recycling centre.

RMF Recycling Centres are located at: Parkhouse Road Refuse Station, Sockburn; Metro Place Refuse Station, Bromley; Styx Mill Road Refuse Station, Redwood. Winter hours: Monday to Friday 7am - 4pm; weekends 8am - 4.30pm.

3. Commercial volumes (more than 50 books); contact Coleridge Paper Company (384 2273) or Onyx (374 3336) to discuss collection options.

Directories can also be dropped off at the RMF Paper Plant in Hornby.
