Rangiora High School wins script awards

“Out of Control”, a stage script written jointly by Rangiora High School Year 10 students Melissa Buchler and Julia Croucher, has won the Crashbash Script Awards for 2004.

Out of Control will be professionally developed and produced as a play to tour high school assemblies in greater Christchurch next February and March.

The 2004 theme of alcohol-impaired driving the morning after drinking, was chosen because the police are noticing a “disturbingly large number” of people being stopped while drink driving at dawn or pre-dawn.

The Students Against Drink Driving Award 2004 was awarded to Villa Maria College.

Crashbash is a City Council supported road safety project, which aims to encourage teenagers to think about issues to do with drink driving before driving.
