Enrol to vote

This week’s national mail-out of 2.7 million enrolment updates is the first real indicator that local elections are to be held in October this year.

When you get your pack in the mail, check that your enrolment details are correct. If they are, you don’t have to do anything else. If not, make any changes needed and send the form back.

Also under way this week is a publicity campaign encouraging unenrolled people to sign up in time to vote. You must be enrolled if you want to vote or stand as a candidate for the City Council, community boards or for ECan, the regional council.

  • Enrolment forms are available at any PostShop, library or at City Council offices, or by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 367 656) and on the web at www.elections.org.nz Online, you can check and update your enrolment details.
