Nominations called for good recyclers

The Gold Crate campaign — designed to thank those household recyclers who put the right, clean materials out for collection — has received an overwhelming response.

A range of nominations has been received, from people who pick up recyclable litter and take it home to put in their crates, to those who carefully wash all their materials. City Council staff even received a nomination on behalf of a cat, in appreciation of the cat’s owners washing out the cat food tins.

If you know any good recyclers in Christchurch City or Waimakariri District worthy of receiving a golden crate, get your nomination in quick.

There are only 2400 golden crates available for distribution. Each week winners will be selected from the list of households nominated and a gold crate will be delivered to them.

  • Nominations can be made until Friday, 23 April by phoning 941 8830 or emailing waste@ccc.govt.nz or filling in a nomination form at any Council Service Centre in Christchurch City or Waimakariri District.
