Sign up for gentle exercise programmes

Gentle Exercise is a fun, social exercise class for older adults or people with limited mobility. It is particularly worthwhile for older adults to stay active and mobile over winter.

City Council-run classes are on now in Opawa, Halswell and Burnside and cost just $3, including tea or coffee. They are easy-tofollow classes to music and people can take part either standing or sitting down.

Trained physical activity tutors encourage people to go at their own pace. You will soon appreciate the benefits of greater flexibility and mobility, balance, coordination and circulation.

Details are:

  • St Mark’s Anglican Church, 100 Opawa Rd, at 1.30pm on Wednesdays
  • Halswell Baptist Church, 6 Balcairn St, at 1.30pm on Mondays
  • Burnside Elim Community Church, 193 Grahams Rd, at 1.30pm on Tuesdays
  • For more information, call Delia Walker of the CCC’s Community and Recreation Unit on 941 8383
