Looking for work and like to swim?

If you enjoy working with people and love the water, why not consider becoming a pool lifeguard? You could gain access to recreation industry training, NZQA credits and flexible work hours. A pool lifeguard position could be your first step toward a successful recreation career or, if you are simply seeking seasonal work or flexible hours, this could be an ideal role for you. Christchurch City Council manages 13 swimming pools. Pool lifeguards work in a supportive team environment that is close-knit, social and fun. We will be recruiting soon and, to be eligible, you need a current comprehensive first aid certificate and the national pool lifeguard award.

  • Training is available: the next national pool lifeguard award training course is at Jellie Park Aqualand, starting on Saturday 14 August. Contact Steve Mellis on 941 5525 for details. For information about courses coming up later in the year, call 941 6856.
