Shirley/Papanui board’s Heritage Awards presented


The winners of this year’s Shirley/Papanui Community Board Heritage Awards are, Trevor Lord (Trevor and Jill Lord, of Woodford House won the Supreme Award and the Conservation and Restoration category), and Papanui RSA patron W.G. (Tim) Tiner and president B.J. Clark (The RSA was Highly Commended for Education and Awareness).

Mr Lord’s daughter Caroline, Mike Vincent (of the Station Cafe, winner of the Good Caretaker award), Sid Illott (chairman of the St Marks Anglican Church committee. The church won the Cultural and/or Spiritual Significance award) and Community Board member Dennis Hills (winner of the Education and Awareness category). The annual Shirley/Papanui Heritage Awards are a joint partnership with Rehua Marae. They aim to help raise the awareness about preserving our heritage in a variety of ways.
