NZ Music Month at City Libraries

NZ Music Month at City Libraries

May is New Zealand Music Month — an opportunity to celebrate the success of the local music industry, here and overseas. Christchurch artists such as Anika Moa and Paul Reid of Rubicon are recent examples of the talent that Christchurch is producing.

Christchurch City Libraries supports budding music enthusiasts with all types of music resources — from recent bestsellers, to sound effects and jazz on CD, tape and scores. The libraries also provide access to music-base websites. Library members can borrow recordings from $1, and scores for free.

NZ Music Month was launched with the star-studded Tuis — the NZ Music Awards — on 30 April. True Colours, a travelling festival of Kiwi music, featuring bands such as Salmonella Dub, Blindspott, betchadupa, The Chills, and Orkid will perform at the Town Hall on Friday, 23 May.

During May, library members can enter a multi-choice competition to win $200 worth of New Zealand music CDs and three draws of two New Zealand music CDs.

There is also a special offer — borrow three music tapes or CDs and get your forth one free. Get your special offer card and enter the competition at your local library in May. The cards are redeemable until the end of July.
