Pond work nears end
Excavation of sand from the floor of a City
Council oxidation pond in east Christchurch is
about complete. All planned work on the pond
area, part of upgrades to the city’s Wastewater
Treatment Plant, should be completed by the end
of the month. New bank construction is the last
part of this job, which is running ahead of
schedule. People in the area have been concerned about
dust blowing from the site and to keep this down
about 80 per cent of the pond now has water in
it. A sand stockpile nearby has been covered with
topsoil. Parts of it will be used soon for
development in another part of the city. |
