Beckenham Service Centre in temporary offices

With the South Library and Service Centre building being demolished in 2025, a temporary Service Centre has been established at Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre, 75 Lyttelton Street, Somerfield

The Service Centre, one of six throughout the city, is set up to deliver a range of Council services to residents of Christchurch and visitors.

The Service Centre also provides a support base for the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board, local residents' groups and community centres.

The Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, except for statutory holidays. Services available include:

  • Counter services, including general enquiries and receipting of payments to the Council, eg rates, dog registration and parking fines
  • Some information and advice on by-laws, building consents, parks, roading and traffic related matters note, staff working directly in these fields are not based at Beckenham, except for parks.
  • Advisory services covering community activities and facilities, sport, recreation and funding. Contact the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Advocacy Team.
