While construction continues on the new multipurpose Service Centre and Library, Beckenham Service Centre staff are temporarily located at 148 Colombo Street, in the old Post Office building.

The Service Centre, one of six throughout the city, is set up to deliver a range of Council services to residents of Christchurch and visitors.

The Service Centre also provides a support base for the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board, local residents' groups and community centres.

The Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, except for statutory holidays. Services available include:

• Counter services, including general enquiries and receipting of payments to the Council, eg rates, dog registration and parking fines
• Some information and advice on by-laws, building consents, parks, roading and traffic related matters – note, staff working directly in these fields are not based at Beckenham, except for parks.
