Templeton Centre open

Templeton Centre open
The Community Centre’s construction, by Ahead Buildings, went very well. It features a
barrel roof and exposed timber portals.

The new Templeton Community Centre, at 64 Kirk Road, was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Lesley Keast on 15 February. The new $850,000 building includes space for a competition-size basketball court, a volleyball court and three badminton courts. A stage, supper room and well equipped kitchen are also part of the facility. While the building has been primarily funded by the Christchurch City Council, the Templeton Residents’ Association has contributed $370,000 plus the cost of the kitchen appliances.

The Centre has been built by Ahead Buildings and features a barrel roof with exposed timber portals. Landscaping around the outside of the building is expected to get under way in May.
