Sustainable workshop pilot
The Sustainable Households Programme — a pilot project being
done by eight New Zealand councils — will use volunteers from
their staff to look at waste, energy, water, shopping, gardening and
transport. Christchurch City Council is one of those taking part
from now until November. Staff members volunteer to take part
during their lunchtime's once a fortnight. The idea is to investigate and test practical solutions and ideas
about how to save money and resources. The aim of the
programme is to help householders become more aware of how
daily behaviour affects the environment, and offer practical and
simple ways to help make a positive difference – to the
environment, people’s health and their wallets. |
