McFarlane Park skating
Young skaters in Shirley may soon be enjoying a new
facility in McFarlane Park. In response to local demand for
more recreational facilities in the area, the Council has
investigated site, equipment and safety options for a skating
area in the park. Staff have been visiting local schools,
presenting ideas and trying to ascertain if the proposed
equipment and location are suitable and would be used. "So far the kids are really enthusiastic about it," says Kirsty
Patten, Parks and Waterways area advocate. "Once we’ve
identified the sort of equipment they want and have an idea
of the best place for them to use it, we'll be asking the
surrounding residents, businesses and park-user groups what
they think of the proposal." |
