Live Tall and you
Live Tall is an attitude change. It’s about having
pride in what you, your family, friends and other
Cantabrians do. Live Tall is about being all you can
be, making your life worthwhile, for yourself if not
for others. It’s about celebrating and recognising
achievements, encouraging confidence, growth
and spirit. It’s about believing in ourselves and in
individuality, living up to our potential and
shunning mediocrity. It’s recognising that the decisions we make today
affect our tomorrow. And more importantly it’s
about the journey taken, not only achievement. Live Tall is not about place or about promoting
Christchurch as tourist destination and Live Tall
does not replace the Fresh Each Day and Garden
City identities. It’s about people – the people of
Christchurch and Canterbury – and maybe, one
day the people of New Zealand. At the moment, Live Tall has eight categories: art
and culture, business, community, education,
health, heritage, sport, and me, which was
designed for 5 to 18-year-olds but is there for
anyone who doesn’t feel aligned with any of the
other categories. Initiated by the City Council and Canterbury
Development Corporation, Live Tall will be
owned and driven by the community. The belief in
the concept was so strong from Yellow Pencil
Adverting and printers Wickliffe Ltd that they
have provided all their work at no cost. Support
has also been received from many key
organisations in our community. Promotional material is available to help your
organisation, group, business, school, family or you
personally to show the flag for Live Tall.
