Go by Bike event attracts thousands
This year’s Go by Bike event held on from 18-20 February was a success, attracting about 5000 cyclists over the three days. Coinciding with National Bike Week, and funded by the Christchurch City Council, the annual Go by Bike event aims to encourage as many people as possible to cycle to work or school. This year, cyclists who stopped at the “celebration stations” around the city on their way to work, school or anywhere else by bike, were rewarded with a free breakfast and cycle information. The Go by Bike team giving out the rewards included staff from the City Council, More FM,The Events Company and Avanti. Treats included Hellers tasty sausages and bacon, Yummy apples,Anchor milk, Mother Earth fruit bars, and Kelloggs cereal. Starbucks also provided coffee for cyclists, and Avanti gave away helmets and one bike.
