Make your house a Warmer Home

It’s not too early to think about making your house warmer this winter. Christchurch City Council has two ways to help.

The first is the Warmer Homes Scheme that is designed to help low income homeowners insulate their homes. This will also assist in reducing the level of air pollution which is good for the whole city.

There are three parts to the Warmer Homes Scheme; a grant for the installation of insulation materials, a grant for disabling an open fireplace or coal-burner, and a discount on the installed cost of a new heating appliance.

The second is the reopening of the energy efficiency show home at 10 Leander Place in Papanui on Monday, 4 February. The house has been created to provide free and independent advice on low cost options for heating your home as well as making your home warmer. A visit to the house could help you save dollars on heating as well as make your house a warm, inviting home over the colder months. The house is open 11am-6pm everyday including weekends and public holidays – closed Wednesdays.

For more information on the Warmer Homes Scheme and the energy efficient house contact Mike Gaudin on 352-4488 Cell: 025 228 9926.
