Water fantasy world set for opening

Water fantasy world set for opening
Water fantasy Christchurch City Council Leisure Manager Alistair Graham draws the names of the lucky winners of the ‘Win a Pool Party’ competition. Tyler George, aged six, from Avondale Primary School and Koti Puru, aged 11 from Somerfield Primary School each won pool parties for their class at QE11’s new leisure pool, open to the public on Friday 9 August.

The wait is over. The city’s newest and wildest themed pool opens to the public at 6am on Friday 9 August at QEII. To kick off the celebrations the Off the Edge treasure hunt will run from 4 to 7pm with prizes and giveaways.

Whether you want to relax in the spa, drift along the lazy river or invigorate yourself in the bubble pool, QEII’s leisure pool is a fantastic water experience which awaits everyone, young and old.

The opening completes a two-and-a-half year, $20 million redevelopment that has involved the construction of a modern, Olympic-sized swimming pool, new dive towers, the themed leisure pool and a teaching pool.

Join in the opening celebrations, soak up the atmosphere and discover a new world at QEII. See you there soon.
