Nominate a litter-picker

Keep Christchurch Beautiful (KCB) wants to thank people and groups helping achieve its goal of a litter-free city. The organisation wants the community to nominate its hardworking litter pickers for recognition.

KCB is a voluntary organisation, which aims to promote a litter-free, more beautiful environment within the city, and raise the level of awareness of what individuals and groups can do to improve their community. Its current slogans are I Love A Litter Picker and Don’t toss it — Bin it.

KCB believes city people and visitors want to see an attractive and litter-free environment and aims to encourage civic pride and the beautification of our city.

Chairperson Carole Evans says people who pick up litter seem to shy from publicity, but their example should be celebrated. “So if you’re a litter picker, or you know a litter picker, we would like to know too,” she says.

  • Nominations close on 30 September. Please include the name, address and litter-picking activity/area and send them to Keep Christchurch Beautiful, Attention Geoff Parfitt, 24 Ayr Street, Riccarton, Christchurch.
