Heathcote Valley plans refined

An updated plan for Heathcote Valley Park includes refinements to the one that went out for consultation earlier in the year, and new features such as extra playing fields and proposed hot pools.

Two junior playing fields have been added alongside Bridle Path Road, and next to the senior playing fields is the proposed location for hot pools. The application for this venture has yet to come before the Council for approval. To accommodate these changes, the waterway in this area will be moved and realigned.

Meanwhile, detailed designs and consents for the Tamaki Tours project are proceeding and they hope to open in about a year. Designs for the proposed golf course and driving range are also with the Council and the consents process is under way, awaiting a lighting plan. Building footprints for these two projects appear on the new plan, as well as an option for possible future road realignment leading to the golf complex.

“A major project like this involves a series of steps that needs to be worked through,” says project manager Darren Moses. “For each component the Council has to consider the designs, then an application is made for consents and tenders are put out, all before any construction begins.”

  • The latest plan is available from the Civic Offices on Tuam Street, from the Linwood Service Centre and at www.ccc.govt.nz/HeathcoteValley on the Internet. Council welcomes continued input and feedback on the Heathcote Valley project.
