Conservation Week

The City Council and Department of Conservation are leading guided walks around the Port Hills and Kura Tawhiti (Castle Hill) as part of this year’s Conservation Week, running from 3-11 August. This year’s theme is Nga Maunga Körero the language of mountains.

Mountains tell us a lot about who we are as New Zealanders. We feel a connection to them, we recognise their spiritual significance, they define our landscape and we love them for their beauty and unique biodiversity. Council Service Centres and DOC offices have copies of the Conservation Week programme or it can be requested electronically from smankelow@doc.govt.nz
