At kindergarten one day three-year-old Hannah Mein (left) drew a picture depicting the cleaning off of graffiti from her front wall.

She then asked her mother to send it to the City Council but first Hannah instructed her to write on it:
"Dear Man, Thank you for taking the horrible paint off our wall. — Love Hannah."
The Council’s graffiti campaign is in two sectors: legal art, with an aim of converting taggers to use their talents in a controlled mural-art environment, and the reactive strategy, where graffiti is cleaned up as soon as possible.

Hannah’s painting reached the reactive sector.

This campaign has been running for just over a year and more than 6500 calls have been received on the graffiti hotline 0800 TAGGED.

An estimate of costs of Council costs alone for graffiti removal up to the end of June this year is $340,000.
