Net group for Addington community

Community organisations have formed the Addington Net that will become a charitable trust.

Its objective is to make the Internet accessible and affordable to the Addington community.

A research project was funded by the Community Employment Group that worked with the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board, Addington Bush, Addington Business People’s Association, Addington Neighbourhood Association and Manuka Cottage. Richard Webb has been appointed to start teaching computer literacy at Manuka Cottage. The training will be free and available to all.

Richard says the cottage is stress-free for techno-phobics and everyone can learn at his or her own pace. A further step in the project will be to set up an Internet centre, probably at Addington Mall.

Contact: Richard Webb or Jan Rogers at 338 1613 or Jennifer Watts at 338 7292.
