Hagley-Ferrymead News LYFE (the Linwood Youth Festival Experience) will be held in Linwood Park on Saturday, 28 October, with top local bands appearing. The festival will celebrate youth pride, diversity and achievements in Linwood.

It will have a mixture of visual and performing artists, cultural groups, sports demonstrations, and competitions. A skateboarding competition will be held, as well as a breakdance and MC challenge.

Food stalls and entertainment for the children will be included along with displays by local community organisations.

The four- hour festival will focus on youth, families and friends with an aim to create a suburban fair — a day in the sun with great sounds and a great atmosphere.

An inaugural festival — Xtreme Lyfe — was held in 1998 and was designed to raise the profile of Linwood youth.

For the last two years the festival has been successful with several thousands attending each one.

Core funding for the free festival comes from the City Council.
