Award-winning garden set up to enhance clean, green image Thomas Edmonds established the garden to the west and in front of his Ferry Road factory to enhance the clean and natural image of his new factory, which he built in 1923. The gardens later won many competitions. From 1984 the gardens, along with the glasshouses, were scaled down and by 1986 the factory was closed. In 1990 the factory building was demolished and the Friends of Edmonds Factory Garden was formed to try to save what remained of the original impressive garden. |
