Why I Love Christchurch

I find Christchurch a brilliant place - big enough to be interesting, small enough to get to know - people who are committed to it, a climate to envy and superb playgrounds - peninsula, alps, rivers and harbours.

Christchurch "owns" its heritage and will fight for it, and grasps the future as well.

Christchurch has a great sense of community. It cares enough about its own to offer support - a council with a conscience and individuals who will dig into their pockets very generously. Over the years I have found layer after layer of community support here.

I don't know where else in New Zealand it would have been possible to tackle what we have at the City Mission in the 80s and 90s - and it will all happen again this Christmas at the mission . . . watch!
