Showcase celebration to open centre

Christchurch's new world class entertainment facility, the WestpacTrust Centre, will open in September with six days of free events, designed to showcase the capabilities of the venue and introduce the centre to Christchurch people.

Opening week organiser Pam Morris says the events have been planned to appeal to all tastes and age groups.

"There is a great deal of anticipation around the WestpacTrust Centre, which will be a venue all Christchurch people will be proud of, and which will host some wonderful events for the City. The opening week celebrations will fulfill the expectations that people have for the centre and will demonstrate what a magnificent facility it is," she said.

Fun for all the family
Two year old Asher Sutherland doesn't have to go far for help to find the right book at Sumner Library.

His sisters Alice and Rebecca, mother Judy, grandmother Jill and 87 year old greatgrandmother Lorna all visit Sumner Library together. They've always liked the atmosphere of the library, and they're pleased with the recent refurbishment and expanded collection.
