New festival will dance up a storm Ballet, belly dancing and just about everything between will feature in a new festival this spring.

Opening with a free event in Victoria Square on Friday 26 September, the City Council organised Christchurch Festival of Dance will include revues, raves, master classes, open days and numerous other opportunities to watch and participate in dance.

Event co-ordinator Perry Walker says the potential for the development of the festival is as broad as the field of dance itself.

"This could grow to become the premier dance event in the country, attracting top performers and shows from overseas as well as showcasing the best that Christchurch and New Zealand has to offer," he says.

The Christchurch Festival of Dance runs from 26 September to 12 October.
