Hanging around in South Brighton
has taken on a new meaning with a unique adventure
concept developed in conjunction with the Christchurch
City Council. Recently completed in South Brighton Domain, the Challenge Ropes Course offers a confidence building activity handy to Christchurch. Built from ropes and cables by the Kahikatea Adventure Education Trust, the course is designed as a physical, intellectual and collaborative challenge for participants. Climbing ropes and hanging in mid-air is exhilarating and when you rely on others to help achieve an objective, it is a tremendous way to build trust, motivation and self-confidence, says Baz Simmons, coordinator of the Challenge Ropes Course. |

Combining high and low activities some up to 20 m above the ground the course offers motivational and team building challenges for schools, sports teams service clubs, corporates, community groups and people with disabilities.
One of the most spectacular activities is the "double troika", which is a giant double right-angled free hanging ladder 20 m above the ground and the first of its kind in the world, says Baz. Capable of taking six people at a time with 12 more required on the ground to anchor them, the double troika demonstrates how important team-work is on the course.
Groups up to 40 can take part on the Challenge Ropes Course, with all specialist equipment supplied.
