TV2 KidsFest - something for every Christchurch kidChristchurch children are in for a treat during the sixth annual TV2 KidsFest, presented by the Christchurch City Council. Running from 5 to 12 July, the festival features over 70 events, including art, culture, sport, science, music, drama, dance, theatre and environmental activities. |
Opening with a variety event hosted by Jason Gunn, other TV2 KidsFest highlights include a pirate attack and treasure hunt on Ripapa Island, opportunities to join the `What Now' studio audience and chances to see behind the scenes at the Christchurch Cathedral and the headquarters of The Order of St John.
`Aladdin', `Cats Galore', `The Fantastic Mr Fox', `The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me', `The Silly Sausage Show', `Jack and the Beanstalk' and, `Puff the Magic Dragon' all feature on stage during TV2 KidsFest.
Activities such as drawing, print making, doll making, Cook Islands craft, pottery and folk art will all be part of this year's event, while sports fans can have a go at rugby, aerobics, hockey, table tennis, swimming, diving, rugby league, golf, ten pin bowling, ice racing, fishing, skiing, karate or even the Army confidence course.
`Kids FM', the festival's own radio station, created by children for children, is on-air between 10.00am and 3.00pm weekdays during the festival.
A free bus service to events will also be provided with the support of the City's bus companies and the Canterbury Regional Council. Special bus passes and bookings to most events are available through Ticketek. |
