Holders of the Kiwiable Leisure card receive discounted admission to a range of services and activities.

Justin Muschamp of Parafed Canterbury has helped the Council to develop the card. "Concessions have been agreed with facilities including fitness and recreation centres, stadiums and cinemas, with the list still growing," he said.

Cards can cover more than just the named holder.

"If the holder requires a carer to enable them to use the facility, the carer will be eligible for the same discount. Each card holder will receive a regular newsletter to keep them up to date on where they can use the card," he said.

Eligibility is currently limited to people with disabilities. The six month trial will cover people on long term ACC, on an invalid benefit or under 16 and part of a disability organisation.

Applications for a Kiwiable Leisure card will be available from Christchurch City Council service centres participating facilities, ACC or Income Support offices or by calling 941 8693.
