It's nearly time to dust off the picnic hamper, shake out
the rug and prepare for another summer of fabulous entertainment SummerTimes is just around the corner! You gave Events and Festivals, which include SummerTimes, a value for money rating of 87% in the 1996 Residents Survey! Thirty-four percent of residents surveyed attended the SummerTimes Classical Sparks Concert and 30 percent attended the floral festival. |
This year's SummerTimes will be a hit; after kicking off on New Year's Eve, the entertainment continues right through to early March. Favourites such as the Tip Top Teddy Bears Picnic, CD SummerRock, Candlelight Opera and the BNZ Summer Theatre Season will once again be highlights, while a new event has been added to the programme. Aimed at pre schoolers, the `Kids Big Day Out' will take place at various suburban parks throughout the city. This event is a combination of cushion theatre and Silly Games. After participating in a variety of weird and wonderful games with The Amazing Mr Moon, kids will be encouraged to eat their picnic lunch and then enjoy `Cinderella and the three Rumplestiltskins' performed by The Court Jesters.
The final event of the festival, Southpower Classical Sparks, will take place on Saturday 8th March. A brochure will appear in letterboxes throughout the city just prior to Christmas with the information you'll need to make the most of these great free events.
