City Scene - Christchurch City Council Newsletter - March 1996
Hoyts Heritage Week is the perfect opportunity to rediscover Christchurch and its wonderful heritage buildings and sites.
The week - May 25 to June 2 - is a chance to learn something of the fascinating history of our city.
Co-ordinated by the Council's Communications and Promotions Unit, in conjunction with the Environmental Policy and Planning Unit, Hoyts.
Heritage Week aims to increase public awareness of heritage issues. The events are organised by a multitude of community organisations and local businesses and include lectures, exhibitions, field trips and entertainment.
A Heritage Pub Tour led by Christchurch's Town Crier has become one of the highlights. Last year the week featured over 70 events and organisers are expecting an even larger number this year. Programmes will be available from Libraries and Council Service Centres in late April.
